can’t stop coloring!
Okay, I did warn y’all in my last post… I am absolutely addicted to the Stampin’ Up! Blends! And like my last post, these little birdie thank you cards are all about coloring with those awesome Blends alcohol markers. I can’t seem to stop: I’m repeatedly stamping every image I can find that can easily be colored, building a nice little stack of images on my desk, and then taking every spare minute I can find to color away all my worries and stress.
These bird nest images from the new Flying Home stamp set were already stamped out and just waiting for color. I was in need of a couple of thank you cards, and decided that these would work fine for that. It’s fun to make cards that “match”, but that aren’t identical, so I went for two different color schemes.
This one is my favorite (but then, I love the color red). I decided not to stress over what kind of birds these were, so it didn’t matter what colors I used. For each card, I colored two copies of the image. I cut the first one into a square for my focal image, and then just fussy-cut the nest and two leaves from the second one. Using dimensionals, I popped up the nest, and then I used rolled up glue dots for the two tiny leaves I love the dimension you get with this! Eventually, I would like to work on my shading, but any shadows you see here are actually from the layering. 🙂
And here’s a close-up of the second one:
A nice frame around the image, a simple sentiment from an old Paper Pumpkin stamp set, and a bit of paper “ribbon” using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch finish these two cards off. Oh… and those jewels in the upper left corners? Those are all just regular clear rhinestones. I colored them to match, using those Stampin’ Blends. Cool, huh?
These cards are a thank you for you, too! I am so grateful for the kind words I’m getting on my cards, and I’m so thankful that you stopped by my little blog today! It’s so exciting to see where this card-making journey is taking me; I’m just getting started! Will you stick around and join me for the adventure? 😀 Have a terrific day!
