Happy Mother’s Day!
Wishing all the wonderful, loving, hard-working moms out there an amazing day! I don’t have any children, but I have so much respect for mothers – they work tirelessly, 24/7, doing the most important job there is: raising our future. 🙂 (Thanks Mom!)
For this card, it was all about the die-cuts. I love this die set! It’s the Flourish Thinlits set, and it has a bunch of amazing dies that work well together, or by themselves. I started with some Blushing Bride cardstock, and I cut out two of those lacy strips. To get them to fit on the card this way, I did have to trim them down a bit, but if you’re careful, you can easily cut off on end to resemble the other, as I did here, and it’s nearly impossible to tell it was altered. Because those strips are longer, though, you can easily rotate this design and make a portrait card.
The flower in the center was made by layering three different dies, and adding a rhinestone to the center. It’s placed on a white square, which is placed on a pink square, and the whole thing is then added to the card base, diagonally, with dimensionals. I don’t have a good, current Mother’s Day sentiment, so this is just an old stamp from my stash. You could certainly use this design for other occasions – I think it would make a nice Thinking of You card.
Measurements and Details
I just love how this card turned out! Simple, elegant… but so easy! While I did the die-cutting in advance, to save time, I did use this card design for a class, and everyone seemed to love it! If you’d like to try it, you’ll need:
(1) piece of Blushing Bride, cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored (standard A2 size)
(1) piece of Whisper White, cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
(1) 2″ square of Whisper White
(1) 2-1/4″ square of Blushing Bride
Plus the following die-cut pieces: (2) lacy strips in Blushing Bride, (1) large flower in Blushing Bride, (1) medium flower in Whisper White, and (1) small flower in Blushing Bride. And you’ll need one rhinestone, and adhesive.
If these measurements and details are helpful, please let me know. If you have any comments, ideas, suggestions… or if you just want to say “hi”, please leave me a comment, or send me a message.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a beautiful day!
